Professional Background 

Charles Molapisi is a proven technology and business leader with broad expertise in telecommunications, digital transformation in dynamic and emerging markets. He was appointed as Chief Technical and Information Officer effective 1 November 2025. Prior to this, he served as Chief Executive Officer of MTN South Africa, a position he held from January 2022.  

Charles brings extensive leadership experience across multiple MTN markets, having served as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Zambia and Chief Information Officer for MTN Nigeria. Since joining MTN in 2009, he played a pivotal role in advancing the Group’s technology and business strategy, contributing to Boards of MTN Zambia (as Executive Director), MTN Business Botswana, MTN Business Kenya, and MTN Business Namibia. 

He also serves as a director on several Boards within the MTN Group, where he contributes to strategic oversight and governance, supporting the Group’s continued focus on innovation, operational excellence, and digital transformation. 

Qualifications 

Charles holds a BCom from the University of the Witwatersrand, Master of Business Leadership from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and executive programs from MI D Business School, Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School and INSEAD respectively.
