Professional Background: 
Nicky Newton-King is an accomplished business leader and legal professional with extensive experience in law, capital markets, regulation and corporate governance. She began her career as a partner at Webber Wentzel before joining the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in 1996, where she served in various executive roles for 23 years, including eight years as Chief Executive Officer. 

During her tenure, she led the transformation of the JSE into a modern, commercially focused securities exchange with a diverse leadership team and workforce. Under her leadership, the JSE also played an active role among global exchanges, particularly in advancing environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. 

Nicky serves on the Boards of MTN Group Fintech, Investec plc, Investec Ltd and AngloGold Ashanti plc. She is also Chairman of the Council of Stellenbosch University and a trustee of the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre and the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust. 

Qualifications: Nicky holds degrees in law from Stellenbosch University (BA LLB) and the University of Cambridge (LLM) and has been awarded an honorary LLD by Stellenbosch University.
