Board Responsibilities: 
Chairman of the Directors’ Affairs and Governance Committee and the Board Strategy Execution Committee. Member of the Human Capital and Remuneration Committee. 

Professional Background: 
Mcebisi Jonas is a senior public leader with extensive experience in economic policy, investment promotion and governance at both provincial and national levels.  

He served as South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Finance from 2014 to 2017 and previously held key roles in the Eastern Cape provincial government, including MEC for Finance, Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism. Earlier in his career, he was Chief Executive Officer of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation and the Centre for Investment and Marketing, where he led the province’s investment promotion strategy. 

In addition to his role at MTN, Mcebisi serves as an independent Presidential Investment Envoy, appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa. He is also a non-executive director at Northam Platinum, BKB, and the Sygnia Group. 

Qualifications: Mcebisi holds degrees in education and the humanities, including a BA and a Higher Diploma in Education.
