Y'ello Care

​​Our annual staff volunteer programme runs across the Group for 21 days, normally from 1 to 21 June.

​​​It was launched in 2007, but we decided in 2012 to make ‘Investing in education for all’ a permanent theme for the programme. We’ve been harnessing our technology to improve the youth's access to education ever since...

​The focus on education​​

Due to the lack of access to quality education and infrastructure in some of our markets, MTN has chosen to focus its CSI efforts primarily on education. To this end, since 2012, MTN has implemented the permanent theme of ‘Investing in education for all’ for the 21 Days of Y'ello Care programme.

Y'ello Care 2016
From robotics and coding camps for school learners in Swaziland, to the establishment of a computer lab at an orphanage in Afghanistan, and the laying of fibre to enable school connectivity in Kenya, MTN employees embarked on many impactful and diverse community projects during Y’ello Care 2016, which was the 10th edition of the programme and once again supported education initiatives across MTN’s footprint.​

Y'ello Care 2015
MTNers from across the Group's footprint rallied together around a common purpose - to make the lives of their communities a whole lot brighter! This year's campaign continued the theme of "Investing on Education for all". Y'ello Care 2015 saw more than 8 000 employees in 18 markets reach out to impact the lives of approximately 380 000 citizens from South Africa to Afghanistan. ​

​In 2014, MTN employees once again cast the spotlight on the digitisation of teaching and learning as part of their 21 Days of Y'​ello Care activities. For the third consecutive year, MTN employees united und​er the theme of ‘Investing in education for all’ as they embarked on various educational projects for 21 days between 1 and 21 June.​
