MTN South Africa and MTN Uganda have been short-listed in three categories. MTN Uganda has been nominated for Best New Service Award for Google SMS, while MTN South Africa was short-listed for the Green Telecoms Award for their solar and wind powered base station in Kleinaarpen in the Northern Cape and the Changing Lives Award category for their Telemedecine Workstation initiative aimed at creating more efficiency in processing patients at medical clinics.
Ms. Nozipho January-Bardill, MTN Group Executive: Corporate Affairs, says AfricaCom presents MTN with an opportunity to reflect on its business models and external factors that impact on its business.
“We are excited to be part of the 2009 edition of AfricaCom and believe that the lessons we will glean from the event will stand us in good stead. AfricaCom serves as a platform that allows us to contribute to discourse on the issues that impact on our business. The event also provides us with an opportunity to share experiences and best practice with our peers who, like MTN, have operations in Africa and beyond,” says January-Bardill.
