MTN to participate in the GSMA Mobile World Congress

The MTN Group is pleased to announce that CEO and President Mr Phuthuma Nhleko will this morning join other mobile industry leaders in the 16th Annual GMSA Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona from 16 to 19 February 2009.

The theme for this year’s congress is on the “Telecommunications Industry’s Response to the Economic Crisis”. Mr Nhleko, who is also a member of the GMSA Board of Director, will join other industry leaders to share perspectives on the global economic turmoil and explore strategies to mitigate its adverse impact on the growth of the sector.

The Congress will provide key decision-makers with a platform to network, discuss the future of the telecommunications sector and come out with strategies to help it navigate the challenges brought about by challenging global economic climate.

The GMSA is the global trade association representing the interests of more than 750 mobile phone operators and in excess of 200 manufacturers and suppliers worldwide.
